The European Youth Choir Festival Basel (EJCF) takes place every two years during the week of Ascension Day (Christi Himmelfahrt). 19 highly qualified children's and youth choirs from 13 European countries and one guest choir from a non-European country perform over 50 concerts for an audience of around 40,000. The festival will open with a spectacular choral event at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel. The rest of the program includes traditional concerts, open-air concerts, a “choir ship”, a “Swiss Büni” (Swiss fairground attraction), various singing workshops and open singing.
