Ordering an extract from the debt enforcement register

Do you need a debt enforcement register extract for yourself or another person or company? You can find all the information you need and order the extract online here.

About the ordering process

The extract from the debt enforcement register shows all debt enforcement proceedings in the last five years and all existing certificates of shortfall for a specific person.

The debt enforcement register extract costs 17 fancs plus postage (A Mail).

How to order a debt enforcement register extract:

  • At the counter at Aeschenvorstadt 56 in person: You do not need an appointment and can pay by cash, TWINT, PostFinance Pay, or credit or debit card.
  • Via our online form: You can pay with PostFinance Pay, TWINT, or a credit or debit card. Your order will normally be processed within two working days. The debt enforcement register extract will then be sent to you by A Mail.

Extract from the debt enforcement register for yourself

You can order an extract from the debt enforcement register about yourself at any time.

If you want to order an extract from the debt enforcement register over the counter in person, you will need to show proof of identity, such as an identity card.

If you are not collecting the debt enforcement register extract yourself, you can authorise another person to do this. For this, we need a power of attorney and proof of identity from the person you have authorised.

Extract from the debt enforcement register about another person

An extract from the debt enforcement register relating to another person or company can only be issued if the following conditions are met:

  • Written evidence of a legitimate interest worthy of protection, such as a request for a quotation, an offer or a contract.
  • If the order is placed over the counter, the person must provide proof of identity, such as an identity card.

Deletion of debt enforcement proceedings

Debt enforcement proceedings can only be deleted in the following cases: The creditor or a creditor representative sends a written withdrawal to the debt enforcement office. Contact the creditor directly for this.

Please note that the creditor is generally under no obligation to have the debt enforcement proceedings deleted. This applies whether or not the claim has been paid.

Request for non-disclosure of debt enforcement

If you have objected to a debt enforcement entry and the creditor takes no action to remove it, you may apply to the debt enforcement office for non-disclosure of said proceedings.

The earliest you can submit an application is three months after the payment order has been served.

The debt enforcement office will then charge you a fee of 40 francs for processing your application.

After your payment, the debt enforcement office will ask the creditor to prove within 20 days that it has started the procedure to remove the objection.

The debt will be removed from your debt register extract if this proof is not provided.

However, if it is found that you have paid the claim or if action is later taken to remove the objection, the debt enforcement will be shown on your debt enforcement register extract again.
