Swiss National Day on the Rhine
The 1st of August is Switzerland’s national holiday which is officially celebrated in the canton of Basel-Stadt on the Bruderholz. Basel traditionally starts its celebrations on the 31st of July with a big city festival on the Rhine.
Stalls, concerts and fireworks
At the Bundesfeier am Rhein, over 90 pubs and stalls as well as numerous live concerts offer visitors entertainment from 5 pm and the big fireworks display is set off at 11 pm.
The festival area stretches along the banks of the Rhine in Kleinbasel from Johanniterbrücke to Wettsteinbrücke and in Grossbasel from Johanniterbrücke to Mittlere Brücke and from Schifflände to Marktplatz.
Organisation
The National Day on the Rhine is organised by the task force «National day on the Rhine». The task force is managed by the Division of External Affairs and Marketing of the Department of Presidential Affairs of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Members of the task force belong to private institutions as well as governmental bodies.
Applications
