Application for the Basel Christmas market
The official application forms for a stand at the Basel Christmas market can be completed online here from 24 December. The closing date for registrations is always the last day of February of the year in which the Basel Christmas market takes place.
What characterises the Basel Christmas market
The Basel Christmas market has been the centrepiece of the Christmas city of Basel for more than 40 years. On Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz, 150 selected stalls and food stands are set up and individually decorated with great attention to detail for around three weeks every year. Applications are possible in the three categories "catering business", "confectionery business" and "trade and craft business".

The application period for the Basel Christmas market 2024 has ended. Applications were accepted until 29 February 2024.
The application form for the Basel Christmas market 2025 will be available here from 24 December 2024.

Procedure | Registrations are usually accepted and rejected in June. If you are accepted, you will receive the invoice for the stand fees (payment deadline by the end of September) with other relevant documents for the Basel Christmas market. Rejections will be sent by A+ letter to the address given on the form. |

Legal basis
In accordance with Section 6(2) of the Ordinance on Fairs and Markets in the City of Basel, there is no entitlement to the allocation of a stand or a specific stand location, not even for persons who have previously been granted a stand permit. The permit issuer only issues a permit for the registered business.
Terms of purchase and use
If a permit is granted, the applicant agrees to the disclosure of location, business and personal data to third parties for advertising purposes.
The Division of External Affairs and Marketing in the Department of Presidential Affairs is authorised to withdraw the stand permit issued at any time if it transpires that a business does not correspond to the information provided in the application form.
The Division of External Affairs and Marketing reserves the right to carry out a comprehensive review of the information provided. The applicant has taken note of the information on the permit procedure and the stand allocation criteria listed on the following pages.
