City market

The Basel city market is the largest and most traditional fresh produce market in the city. Almost 90 per cent of the fruit and vegetables on offer at the city market come from the immediate vicinity of Basel. This guarantees not only fresh, seasonal goods, but also short travel distances.

The Street food market is a gourmet market held at Marktplatz. It offers a wide variety of delicious foods and beverages. The Marktplatz transforms into a meeting place for anyone who wants to stop by for a quick bite or a spontaneous drink.

The Barfüsserplatz is located in the city centre and surrounded by many first-rate shops and cosy bistros. The new market is the ideal place for errands of any kind: jewellery, handicrafts from all over the world, decoration, delicatessens and clothing are just a few examples of what is on offer. There are also places where you can grab a snack or drink.

The Wednesday flea market at the Barfüsserplatz is held twice a month during the week. Against the scenic backdrop of the old town, its range of rarities and treasures make it a real find for all market-lovers.

The flea market in Petersplatz is a popular Saturday meeting place for all those who love second-hand goods. From fine antiques to dungarees for the little ones, there is everything you need for daily life - at extremely competitive prices of course.
